The Airdri Group has officially joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), committing to support the UNGC’s ten principles in four areas: human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption.

Established in 2000 under the United Nations Secretariat, the UN Global Compact is the world’s largest international organisation advancing corporate social responsibility and sustainability. It brings together over 40,000 corporate and non-business members from over 170 countries, aiming to promote global sustainability by advocating for businesses to adhere to ten universal principles.

Bruce Philipps, CEO, The Airdri Group; “As a group of companies focused on engineering excellence, we centre sustainability across all aspects of research and development, manufacturing, sales and service. It makes business sense for us, and for our worldwide customers of Airdri hand dryers and sanitisers, or Formula Systems elevator safety technologies. It is evident in our low-energy, innovative and long-lasting products; in our social impact foundation dedicated to education and sustainability; in the creation of UK and international employment and learning opportunities in the vital field of engineering; and how we build a fair and transparent supply chain ecosystem.

Simon Green, Group Engineering Director; “Joining the UNGC, alongside leading businesses worldwide, marks another significant milestone in our sustainability journey. We will further leverage our 50 years of expertise in engineering, innovation and international collaboration to demonstrate the role that engineering and manufacturing businesses can and must play in actively delivering on commitments and solutions that improve people’s lives, promote sustainability and are environmentally responsible.”

In order to participate in the UN Global Compact, businesses must evidence their strategic commitments and actions on human rights, on labour practices including the elimination of discrimination and on working with other businesses against all forms of corruption. Environmental commitments and actions must include a precautionary approach to environmental issues combined with initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility and the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
